So, I got a Garmin for Christmas, you know one of those things that talks to you and shows you a map of where you are going? Anyway, Max loves this thing. It drives me batty when it gives me directions, but he insists on having us be told how to get to everywhere we might be going.
When he first saw it he remembered, "Grandpa has one of these. Is he Roger?" He loves to point out when the river appears on the map. But best of all, he takes the directions given very seriously. Today, I was told by the Garmin, "Take ramp right." but I still had a few feet until I could turn right on said ramp. Max thought I was going to miss the turn and yelled at the top of his voice, "Take ramp right, Momma! Take ramp right!" Then, I was told to turn left, Max, "You know you have to turn left." So, now I have the Garmin and Max annoying me half to death.
But when we get home, it is very amusing to hear, "We have arrived at our destination....finally."

Numbers
This morning, Max was being a pill at the breakfast table. Beth had told him a bunch of times to stop and eat. She finally had enough and started counting, by the time we get to three he better be doing what we asked or it's time out. Well, she very sternly says, "One!" and a tiny little voice promptly says, "two" (Mia) and then Max cracks up and yells, "Three!" and by that time we were all laughing and had lost all sense of authority with the children.
He did eventually eat his breakfast.

Star Wars
Max has a little friend at school, Ian, who is gagga about Star Wars. I don't think it's particularly appropriate for a 4 year old to watch, so poor Max is a little left out. Or so I thought. Apparently, he is gleaming a ton of information from Ian and living vicariously through him.
He knows what color light sabers the good guys have and the ones the bad guys have. He gets super excited at the sight of Yoda and really wants me to explain storm troopers to him.
Today, I am Princess Leia and he is Anakan Skywalker. I have not explained to him that he would then be my father and a bad guy, which he would be none too happy about. It's still amusing for him to yell, "Princess Leia" from across the playground as he runs to me.

Bad Max
Go To Your Cage!
I had taken Fieffer to the vet the other day and left the carrier in the dinning room. Max, in his zeal to be a bunny, put himself into it this morning while I was showering. Beth had to take the crate apart to get him out of it.

Ugh
I'm home sick today. I've been dealing with some sort of stomach bug for the past couple of days and it kept me up all last night. Poor Beth had to round up all the kids and take them in this morning, since I was basically useless. I did at least get Max dressed and did Mia's hair, but I don't know that was much help.
I slept until about 11:30 and only woke up then because Poster was right in my face meowing. Stupid cat. I have at least seen what Fieffer does during the day, sleep. No wonder he looked so exhausted this weekend when we were all home keeping him awake.
Off to go take another nap....

fuzzy sheep
I posted last time that Mia is afraid of all things furry. Some of you probably thought I was exaggerating. This is an exact quote from a note sent home by the daycare. "Mia was terrified of the cotton balls. She did not make a fuzzy sheep."
I have my very own Little Albert. This is not normal.

defective
Normally, it's the kids begging the parents for a dog. I'm begging my kids for one. I'm a dog person, always have been. I have had dogs from the day I was born and have always been nuts about them. I've really missed Dedo and now with the passing of Smitten just wanted to have some sort of happy ending by getting a new dog. Found two perfect ones at the shelter, but I have a problem or actually two of them. Max and Mia are afraid of all things furry (except for rabbits in Max's case). Mia absolutely had a hissy fit when meeting a very sweet little dog today. I don't know anyone who has little kids that are afraid of dogs, and I have two. I don't know what the problem is and frankly I am afraid that this fear will only get worse without some exposure to dogs. But since the adoption counselor was basically like, come back in a year, that exposure won't be coming anytime soon. Sigh.
